Right to Information through Twitter

#Tweets can certainly be a barometer for ministerial(administrative) activity.

I started following Shashi Tharoor
on twitter right after the "cattle class" controversy. Honest opinions expressed once in a while. And I have already gotten used to 'Warm discussions', 'excellent mtg', 'Views exchanged', 'Addressd Indian community', 'warm welcome from'. That's what most of his tweets read.

Shashi Tharoor has been a diplomat all his life and having narrowly missed the race to UN General Secretary (which he later opted out of), one can certainly and safely assume that he is good at perception management, about his nation (India) and himself. The information/agenda that he so regularly tweets may never be of any material consequence (at least in the near future) to an average Indian, but certainly shows activity on his behalf. In the past decade or so (that's when i started reading newspapers) I haven't seen a union minister ever discuss his work. I doubt if anyone likes to discuss their work on public forums. And when it comes to ministerial responsibilities, I have a hunch its the senior bureaucrats who have a much better knowledge of the subject and guide their minister to better (alternatively politically correct) policy makings.

Mr.Tharoor having been a diplomat is quite adept to this procedure and I would presume knows his job better than most in his cabinet colleagues. Although having represented India at UNO, Mr.Tharoor is new to inside of Indian politics (he's probably seen it from the outside). And he has done an enviable job of creating visibility among ranks and masses through his tweets. Also having published a book co-authored by Shaharyar Khan he's keep himself in the news (not necessarily conventional print), showing all the characteristics of a successful-personality-for-public. And this will go a long way to gain political mileage with his 100% literate 'Tvm' constituency, the sacrosanct Congress High-Command (aka Soniaji Ghandhiji) and ofcourse the remainder of India.

I would certainly like all the union and state minister to start tweeting about all the information/agenda they can share on a daily basis. It will do them good, handling their public image themselves instead of relying on yellow journalism. Also, probably getting the younger generation interested in politics/governance of the nation.

Some may see through the tweets and at the end of a minister's term may realize it as "substituting activity for achievement". But as long as the perception of the potential to fulfill a promise is taken care of by a full calendar, theres little to be worried about.

The central laboratory of political research at Delhi has to start the clinical trials for this new tweetnomena (tweet + phenomena). I would certainly demand a 'Right to Information through Twitter' from all the minister. You handle your perception and I will handle your reality.

Wake up !

Its 0430 and I still can't get to sleep. I think its the beer. Have many and you can't remember, have only a few and you rather forget.
what does one have to do to fall asleep, get a good night sleep?
Must be lack of boredom.

My MI

Long weekend ..... rather too long, 4 days.

MI lost the KXIP match (29/4 @ xantz's).
Today i just watched (MI vs KKR)....didnt play no emotions....we won. I was/am still disappointed with our last defeat. Hard to fight a defeat.

The build upto friday's game was with the news, came a bit late in the afternoon. A dry day. This not knowing, had planned the eve @ bond (as usual). What a put-off. A cancelled plan and the great indian jugaad took care of the place and the water of life made my initial plan back to real. And about this dry-day days, such nusance. Responsible drinking....drinking, or something like that.
Anyway, we are all set for the game and then a fan's nightmare. Its the wait which is killing but i survived that, only to see my team lose in the last over.
Everytime i make plans for our match we lose (25/4 MI vs DC @ bond). And if I beleive that i would be superstitious. And I am not.

Love my team and I am there for you, to cheer, to pray, to swear.

My MI dont play be the game.

Acronym : SAD

Whats the big deal with the V-day?
In trying to gather rather useless information I wiki  valentines day.

Its commercialised in all parts of the world and well, also, politicised in India. Wonder when will it feature in their 'Common Minimum Program'. We already had the 'Pink Chaddi' campaign. I know how to commercialise that. heheh.

Anyway what I discover is SAD : Singles Awareness Day.
Oh I know how to commercialise this as well. But its going to be a dirty business. ;)

For whatever reason its to be celebrated on Feb 15th or (and) Oct 1st. And this too has to be decided by some rather sad groups.  I have celebrated it rather reluctantly for a while now (by while i mean since i the time i know i know)

Did I ever mention the word 'coitus' in this post. Ehh...no. Alright then this post is clean.
But then whoever wrote this. I know who sang it, for whatever reason. Okay I am not discussing other peoples lives here.

But then mines a bit SAD at the moment. Lol.

The "S" word

Had a fight with good friend.

Can't remember when I last fought with a friend before this. I am to blame.
It was not a big deal as I made of it.

Kept thinking about it for more than a day and all I could think of was "insecurity". The problem word. Before I could apologise. I had to know the why I did/said what I did/said before I apologised.

As Ranjeet (Mind Your Language) would say "A thousand apologies" to all if I haven't yet.

As my friend says "A good apology is spoilt by an excuse". None here.

I am sorry.

No Blackberry

My blackberry charger has given way. Back to simple old Nokia.
Raat ko bhi chalta hai wala handset.

The more i miss my handheld e-mail device the more i like the "phone hota hai baat karne ke liye" wala concept.

I feel light, less responsible, free. I saved for almost a year to buy one for my birthday. The QWERTY keyboard, beveled keys, calendar, ofcourse e-mails and much more. Loved it. Guess that way and more BB took more from me than it could give back.

I actually feel like calling up people, send text messages than signing in to Gtalk or Fb.

Thanks to Google Sync got a backup of all the contacts. Switched to a new talk plan on vodafone.

Life seems very easy with simple joys. Its seems like a welcome break with no BB.

Till thats resolved i am loving the multi-tap text messaging and mindless yapping.

Call me.

Auto RickSHOW wala

Ever wondered why the rickshaw drivers wear different uniforms?
Well I asked one today -
White Uniform - He owns the rickshaw
Khaki uniform - He has leased the rickshaw from its owner

I thought it had something to do with the rickshaw unions they are associated with. The same code applies to the cab drivers as well.Articles have been written on how a Mumbai rickshaw wala can put Scuhmi to shame.Roads here are no less than a F1 circuit.U've got straights, chicanes (pavements), backmarkers (BEST buses), pot holes, tight corner, wet tracks (during monsoons)The adman should seriously considering branding a rickshaw wala's uniform.

It could the usual stuff

- Engine oil

- Tyres

- Forthcoming movies

- Consumer goods

Buses & Sub-urban trains have them why not the rickshaw walas?
