Of all the things

Forgot my umbrella in the rickshaw. So much for my rickshaw post earlier today. Of all the things that couldn't find their way back to me I miss my memories the most

  • of pre-1991 Nagpur.
  • of RAK (1991-1997).
  • of friends then.
  • of promises made.
  • of hope.
  • of victories.
  • of temptations.
  • of perceptions then.
  • of then memories.
  • of me then.

Retirement will be interesting. After all I now have a blog.

A seat with a view

What's with everyone wanting a window seat?
Even as a kid I never had the window affinity.
 
I can understand the "Thodi hawa aane de" argument. But why in an AC bus?
I always go for an aisle seat, more leg room in a way. One leg limping in the aisle and the other under the seat ahead.
When you are on the aisle seat most of the times other passengers won't bother you for the other seat (window).
That way I get to keep my office bag on the other seat.
(Unless of course the bus starts getting full)
I think the other passengers find you just plain weird to not sit by the window. They will pass you to get the next aisle seat (though they really wanted that window seat).
 
Oh and also a guy stranger always sits next to another guy stranger and a girl stranger will always sit next to a girl stranger.(unless there are no other free seats).
 
Trees passing by, traffic, city lights. The wind in the hair.
 
No matter what seat you get, just make sure you are heading in the right direction.

Mario bros

Mario cakes. Reminded me of dxb days playing Mario all afternoons after school.
Luigi his brother. Different levels - the one underwater was tough, think is was level 3.

Contra, streetfighter,TMNT the other favs.

There was nothing more interesting than video games. This weekly magazine "young times"use to give out tips and cheat codes. Some ramsey guy use to write them. Wonder if its still in circulation.

School mate AJ had a sega mega drive. He was a pro. Sonic, ghouls n ghosts n all.

The last I played was in June 2006, NSF on a colleague's psp.

Fitch's downgrade not worrisome: FM

Finance minister downplayed the lowering of India's credit outlook by global rating agency Fitch, saying it is not a cause of worry as economic fundamentals are strong.

Thanks to the rating agencies and their proprietary valuation models. They have caused enough problems for the US credit market.
Everyones being conservative now.

The issuer of the security pay the rating agency for a grade.
Looks more like the investors paid for it eventually.

A rose is rose

Waiting at the Mulund bus stop today I noticed this madman.
Singing to himself holding a rose.
Sure he is the hero of his own story.

But what a rose got to do with all this.
Seems to me like "If it's not madness its not love".
Or is that Tina Turner song "What's Love Got To Do With It".
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken.

Subah ka bhoola

How many times have you compared your current employer to your ex-employer?

Typical reasons- for more pay, responsibility, authority. Gone are the days when one joined as 'babu' and retired as a 'bade babu'.
Does anyone know which company had the first HR dept for recruitment?

Either the employer is not good enough or the employee for each other.

The one thing that has helped to nail attrition when I use to handle a team was well defined expectations from every team member Initiatives earned bonus points. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pygmalion_effect

And now I am out of operations for very reason that the biggest problems are people problems, not complex processes. I did what I had to do and luckily in 18 months I was released to work on projects. The easiet way I have realised "In order to lead you must at times follow" was from the days in Ops.
And yeah I got that line from Achilles-the movie.
How much can an employee to achieve both the company's objectives and his personal goals is really bothering me.
Every employee has something to offer and his needs change over time. Employer when willing to satify his current needs shouldn't I suppose face the threat at of high attrition.

Coming back to my problem, how would one feel to work for his ex-employer?

As the hindi adage says " Subah ka bhoola agar shaam ko ghar aaye to usse bhoola nahi kehte". Usse chutiya kehte hain.
